The Green Point On Wallis Lake Community Association Incorporated, which is incorporated under the NSW Associations Incorporation Act (2009), seeks to act as a vehicle for residents to identify, discuss, prioritise and resolve issues that arise for the community.

The Association works closely with residents, Mid Coast Council and other local organisations on issues that arise.

Joining the Association costs only $5.00 per year. As a member you will be able to vote at meetings, be nominated to participate as a committee member and receive discounted tennis court and trailer hire.

All Green Point 2428 residents are welcome to attend the quarterly Association general meetings and have a say in what is happening.

A small group of volunteers looks after the maintenance of the hall, Green Point Park and other public spaces around the village. We are always looking for new volunteers to assist with these tasks.

Residents and non-residents of Green Point can hire the Community Hall. The renovated hall comprises large indoor and outdoor areas that accommodate up to 50 people and a comprehensive kitchen suitable for most social and commercial occasions. Hall hire can include a large Barbeque (BYO gas).

The grounds are well-maintained with parking (one dedicated disabled parking space), picnic tables, a children's playground, a half-court basketball court and a skateboard park.

Green Point residents can hire the Green Point community box trailer to use within a 20km radius of Green Point.

Its most popular use is to take green waste to the Tuncurry Waste Disposal Centre.

The history of the Association goes back to 1972 when five of the original residents met in their homes to socialise and address issues relating to Green Point. The Green Point Progress Association was formed in 1973 and has been operating continuously since. In 2005 the Association changed its name to Green Point on Wallis Lake Community Association Inc. It is a non-profit organisation.

Under the guidance of the first President, Jim Markey, the Rural Fire Chief, the first Green Point Rural Fire Station was erected by volunteers with materials donated by local builders. This brick garage also became the first venue for Progress Association meetings. Through enormous fundraising efforts by local residents, the garage was fitted out to allow both organisations to operate adequately. The only problem was power; there was none! So twenty names were submitted and Green Point was connected to the grid in 1972/3. Town water came in 1991 and sewage in 1994.

In 1988 a Green Point resident, Ross Kneebone, donated two parcels of land to Great Lakes Council. The smaller one (0.8 ha) was adjacent to Bottlebrush Close and became designated by Council as parkland.

The Association gained approval to construct a community hall/tennis pavilion in the parkland in 1991. A disused tennis building was donated from a Tuncurry redevelopment site. It was transported to the site, lifted into position and fitted out by local volunteers.

The Association obtained a grant for the construction and management of two tennis courts. Funds raised by hiring the courts and the hall became a good revenue stream and made the Association financially independent.

Later came the construction of the skate park, toilet block (after water and sewer extensions to Green Point in 1993), picnic tables, seats, a flagpole, fencing, a small shed and a children's playground.

The Association has been awarded numerous local and state government grants for specific projects. These have required huge support from locals in extra fundraising and labour. The extension of the community hall in 2011 has been a major achievement, highlighting the hard work undertaken both by the Association and by the community.
